Zundert Trappist

Background

Zundert Trappist is the beer of the Trappist monks of the Abbey Maria Toevlucht in Zundert. The monks brew it themselves, and behind every beer lies a story about monastic life, craftsmanship and taste.

Challenge

For its December gift packs, drinks specialist Wauters Hulst wanted to give customers more than just beer. Anyone who bought a Zundert Trappist pack should also get an experience with it: where the beer comes from and how to taste it.

Solution

Together with beer sommelier Henri Reuchlin, we made a 4-part video series:

• The story of the Trappists and their beer: a brother from the abbey talks about life and brewing in the monastery.
• What makes Zundert Trappist so special: Henri takes you through a tasting.
• How to bring out the best in its flavour.
• What the label tells you.

The gift packs in the shop carried a QR code. That took buyers straight to the videos so they could taste along at home.

Result

A series of 4 videos telling the story behind Zundert Trappist, from monastery to glass. The videos are on the Zundert Trappist YouTube channel and together have been viewed more than 2,700 times.
