What is native video?

Native video refers to video content that is uploaded to or created on social networks and plays in that network’s feed, instead of sending viewers to an external website or video hosting service such as Vimeo or YouTube. In other words, the video is “native” to that specific platform and is optimised for seamless playback within it. Native videos often get more views, more engagement and higher reach than non-native videos. That’s because many social platforms, such as LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook, favour video content on their own platform over video content hosted elsewhere.
